Tonight was a pretty special occasion: it was the first ever Hannah and Kathy Macaroni and Cheese Evening. It involved my friend Kathy and I making macaroni and cheese. For the first time ever.

The White Dog Cafe is my favorite restaurant. I grew up in Philadelphia, and though I no longer live in the city of brotherly love, this restaurant by the University of Pennsylvania’s campus is still in my top ten. It was owned for something like 25 years by a woman named Judy Wicks, who is a well known Philly area social activist. I just learned in writing this post that the restaurant actually started out as a muffin shop, which will ultimately lead to my next post on a White Dog recipe for blueberry muffins. That will come another day.

This recipe comes from Smitten Kitchen. I made it last year for Thanksgiving and it was incredibly delicious (if I do say so myself). It’s great for potlucks and other such fun.
So here it is: Cauliflower gratin. Enjoy!
